Judy and William is right on. If all telemarketing is illegal- everyone will know their being scammed. Right know, some illegal scammer/ telemarketers are preying on elderly who believe the crap they are hearing. It happened to a friends parent- they were not aware they were being scammed. If telemarketing was illegal...any calls you get that is trying to sell you something...or scare you to give credit card number, or say they are on Microsoft or IRS...you know they are scamming.
Because...sarcasm doesn't help the problem.
Seems like they've learned to spoof the caller ID name now too. This one says "Local Marketing". Fortunately the service that shall not be named here caught it and blocked it.
Got this call on my cell phone. I responded with auto message and was bounced back as invalid Nbr. Read report in AARP which said calls like this may be robo calls looking for someone to answer. Once they get an answer your Nbr goes on list as being "human answered" & you're tagged! I believe this to be true as when I answered no one was on the call.... But soon after that call I received tons of telemarketing calls. So I'm id'ing and saving so the name shows its telemarketer.
