Scam. Just got a call from this bot claiming it was the IRS and that a lawsuit is being prepared against me. They recommended that I call them back to find out more about the case. The IRS does not call you with lawsuits.

I just got home and found the same message on my answering machine.  It's a total scam.  It's a shame that they can put so much effort into bilking people out of their money than to use these same skills in applying for a job and working it.  How ridiculous!

Total scam.  Originates in either India or Pakistan.  Ignore and block the calls.

I’m an Enrolled Agent with the IRS (Inactive). IRS does not initiate contacts by phone.  US mail only.   IRS does not file lawsuits.   Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter.  But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters.  90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively.  IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes.  IRS has no powers of arrest.    If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job.  IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of  money.  IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone.   IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case.  No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments.  Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but  usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement.    All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals.  All  contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.

Call blocker can help some.  There's no way to stop the calls from being initiated.

THEY ARE COMING TO ARREST YOU NOW! Was the last words said to me before he hung up the phone.
When I answered the phone a very , very  thick Indian accented male said: Are you so & so ? Yes I replied. Although I wasn't. ( phone is registered in that person's name ). This is the IRS you have committed tax fraud and owe the IRS  $5,886.32. You must pay it now or go to jail. Knowing it was a scam call. ( nothing he said could possibly be true . Including that the IRS was calling some ones home. ) I played along cause I wasn't very busy at that moment anyway. Seems that the IRS had audited me and I had committed tax fraud from 2009 thru 2013. If I did not give them a credit card number they would send the police ( not an IRS agent ) to arrest me immediately. So I said "OK". He said : What is the number on the card? I said no I meant OK , come and arrest me. He said : You want to be arrested ? I said: Absolutely!  Thats when he screamed the opening sentence to this comment.
