I placed an ad on craigslist today and got a text from "Caroline" on this number within 15 minutes of posting. They claimed their phone dropped too many calls when I suggested they call me directly. They too said they would buuy my item sight unseen.
No need to be rude. I read your post and appreciate the detailed info, but it didn't answer my specific question about whether there's any way the scammer could hack my PayPal account since I sent a request to the mobile number they used.
I would think that question would best be answered by PayPal, since it is an account with them and they would be able to tell you everything about your account you need to know.
You might want to check with Paypal to make sure.
Having your phone number and your Paypal account name should not be enough to let a crook into your account. For that, they need your password. As I recall, the Paypal site has some tips on security you might want to review as well.
Since you have indicated that you are not taking checks as a form of payment, it is likely the scammer will have lost interest and moved on. As traditionally run, the scam revolves around payment with a bogus check.
So expecting someone to read the other posts to get answers to questions is rude? Didn't know that. In any case it looks like your question was answered twice now (since my post clearly indicated that it is a scam), and since someone else suggested that you contact PayPal (something I would have done first).
