Want a quick solution? Grab your smartphone, your regular phone, and your work's fax machine phone number.
Get your smartphone ready to record (open the "voice recorder" app). Then call your work's fax machine line, and record the tones when the fax machine picks up. Let it record until the fax line hangs up (about 1 minute). You're ready to have fun, now!!!!
The next time a telemarketer calls, open up the voice app and PLAY the fax machine recording when you answer the phone. It usually takes 5-15 seconds for the telemarketer to hang up.
BONUS!!!!! Your phone # will be marked as "business - fax" on their list (basically a useless number, since you can't scam a fax machine). So you won't get repeat calls, and when the people who have you number sell their lists, your phone # won't appear on it!!! Basically, your ## become useless to THEM!!! BWA ha ha ha ha!!!!!!!
I picked up the phone and said nothing. They hung up. I looked up the # and opted to call it back. A very familiar-sounding, older NY woman said my first name (presumably from caller id that they usually insist they do not have and insist you give it to them to be removed, which I refuse to do) as if she knew me since I was a child. For a second, I thought the call had been broken in by the operator for an emergency. She went on to say very slowly and methodically thay she was calling on behalf of the American Police something when I interrupted and said: "You have this number fraudulently, please remove it from your list". She hung up as I was saying it. Grrr... Next time they call, I just might not be so nice.
For Fax Machine----If you already have a a fax machine disconnect your answering machine and let all land line calls go to your fax machine tone------------Usually reduces the garbage calls
The magic phrase is NOT ''take me off'' or "remove my name" or "remove my number from your list", but ''Add this number to your Do Not Call list''.
Telemarketers and commercial fundraisers have no legal obligation to "remove" anything. At some call centers the reps are trained to *ignore* such demands. They are required by the Telemarketing Sales Rule to maintain an internal scrub list and add your numbers on request.
Also, many times a call center can create "work product", which may include no-call lists, but alteration of a client's lead lists is forbidden. Therefore, it is best to rehearse and only use the phrase "add this number" in your scrub requests.
Everyday I get a call from some scam and I don't even use my landline anymore it's just for those scammers, or telemarketers . If someone could please tell me how to stop all this BS
