Caller did not state where he was calling from or who he was calling for. Said his name was Frank Murphy and that I needed to return his call the second I got his message- either myself or my attorney. Said I better not disregard his call. If I don't return his call- he would like to wish me good luck as the situation unfolds on me.
I just received a voice mail message left from this number. The caller claimed to be Officer David Fisher of the IRS Criminal Investigation Division and stated that there was a serious allegation made against me and that it was important that I contact him immediately. He ended his message with "God Bless", which got me thinking that this was probably not from an IRS.
It's amazing that according to these post this has been going on since at least Feb. 2014 and that ph # is still being used for these types of scams.
They just left a message on my dad's answer machine. The message was from David Fisher. He was calling from Criminal Investigation Divisional of the IRS. Mind you, he said "Divisional" not "Division". I looked up the term; the actual DIVISION is called "Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation Division (IRS-CI)". Um, if you are going to scam me, how about you sound like less of a dumb-[***]!
After the message, I immediately looked up the number online because more than likely it was a scam. If this was really the government calling, they wouldn't allow their reps to close the calls with "Good-bye and God Bless".
