Called back after voicemail was left stating they were the IRS and I was going to get handcuffed for bad taxes? Called 4 times in a row which they've hung on me after me asking what it was about. Tried calling again to make sure and line is disconnected. Speaker sounded from mid eastern.
I got a call from this number and they left an automated message, it said that they were from the dept. of the treasury and that I had a fraudulent claim against and I needed to call them immediately to avoid going to jail. I called the number after work and a man with a foreign accent answered, He never would tell me what I supposedly did wrong and when I informed him I was not a stupid person and watched all about fraudulent phone calls and no money for him, he told me I could stick my money up my *** and he hung up.
I also got a call from "Judy Smith with the Department of Treasury." A robotic message was left on my voice mail. Of course at first I thought, crap just what I need on a Friday, but then remembered that I have always done my taxes and correctly. I had received a similar call/voicemail like this before. Some Middle Eastern sounding dude yelling into the phone telling me to call him back or I will get throne in jail for an unpaid ticket or something. What in gods name is wrong with these people? I almost feel like this kind of harassment is borderline terrorism. It's always a middle eastern, angry man on the other end of the call demanding you give them money or Else! And that's IF you call back. It's never an American dude on the other end trying to extort money from me. Just sayin.
I just got the same call from 917 688 4211. I called back and he said he was with the Treasury department. He sounded like he was from Pakistan or India based on his accent. Said that I was in trouble for back taxes with the Treasury department. When asked to provide proof like what was the first two numbers of my address he couldn't. Called it what it was a scam and hung up. Then Googled for information on the number. Area code shows New York, NY. Back taxes are handled by the IRS anyways and not the Treasury Department that your first clue that there is something not right about it. Second the IRS doesn't call you about back taxes they send you official notifications and reference your year filing and provide a case reference number. Even if you do get such a notification never call the number on the notification. Look up the correct number from the official site to call to verify it is indeed a real notification.
In your call type you should list SCAM and Fishing as types.
