Unknown caller, no message, caller id says New York NY

Called landline before 9:30 am on a Saturday, then hung up on macine. Caller ID is New York, NY,.

id on landline shows above  nbr  not  known we do not answer .

Received a call from this number. Caller said he was collecting for a police officer fund. I offered to donate $45.00. I said I wanted to vet him first. I told him there are a lot of scams out there and asked him for his "dot org". That's when he hung up on me.

Called twice in last 24 hours. I didn't answer (though that is one of my local area codes). Based on the above, I've now blocked the number.
