Posted a report on the call back number this one left in a voicemail. I'll copy and paste it in case someone searches for this number as well. From my post on their callback number:
"855-968-0693 is a callback number left by a local spoofed number (918-340-6501). Claims in voicemails from spoofed number to be someone named Austin Daniels and gives this one for you to call back along with a reference number/claim number. Has called twice, once Tuesday, once Wednesday. Says he is a legal courier for "the state" (doesn't say the state) and that he has some sealed legal documents regarding a claim being filed against me that I need to sign for. Says he'll come by my work or home (retired for over a decade, fishy) at 3pm on Thursday. Second call, threatens that if he doesn't hear from me he will just show at 3pm on Thursday. Today, Thursday, threatens that he'll come by at 3pm unless I call him immediately to reschedule or get details. I'll post back if they do but I guarantee you it's just a scare tactic.
For kicks, I did call back to this number that he left in the voicemail. First time it went to a mailbox that scrambles the lady's voice as she says who they are, so it's unintelligible. First sign. Called again, got someone. Gave the reference number but not my name. They had my name, address, and birthday. I hung up when they asked for the last 4 of my social. I am willing to be anything if I played ball, they'd offer to not come serve me if I gave them bank details/sent money. This whole mess just isn't how servers work in Oklahoma. They do NOT call in advance. They just show up (I have been served once before). Calling and telling you the time and day defeats the whole purpose of what they do. Second, servers (couriers) are independent and work for the court. They are simply there to let you know a suit was filed, and CANNOT offer to delay service or cancel it altogether if you pay something. They work for the court, they cannot take money for whoever is suing you. Period. Also, you don't sign for anything. They leave the papers with you, or at your feet if you refuse them. Third, we've got nothing to be sued about so it definitely smells like BS.
These kinds of people sound scary, but don't give in to it people. Never give out your SS (or any part) on the phone, especially with people who use spoofed local numbers. A legitimate business or debt collector will clearly identify themselves and not hide who they are. Second, if you're sued, this isn't how service works. They will stalk you and approach you out of the blue. They do not warn you and give you the chance to duck a meeting. They also will never make you sign anything or ask for money/SS number."
And the update I added to that post after he failed to appear as he threatened to do...
"Much like I expected, it's a scam. The guy never showed and it's been 2 hours. They played their hand hoping to intimidate a payment for who knows what (as I've checked and checked, there's nothing in my name in the court system, and I owe nothing I'm aware of) or attempting to pressure identity information out of people. Don't fall for it. It definitely sounds scary because of the fact they have your birthdate, address, and name I am sure, especially if you DO have debt out there somewhere, but this made no sense from the start and it's complete BS at the end."
