Called saying they were calling on behalf of the NC Troopers Fund and they were collecting donations to help the families of troopers killed or hurt in the line of duty. Wanted to send me decals for $25.
Caller:919-246-9967 ( from land line in Durham, North Carolilna)
Calls repeatedly, never leaving a message. Others report that the calls seek money to support
police, etc. They are a scam. The police in Durham, N. C. (the area code for N.C.-919)
have been notified to please try to stop the individuals at this number from making the calls. They are
a form of harasment and are illegal. The next step is to send all information regarding the
calls (including date and time of each call) to the Attorney General for the state of North Carolina.
Please locate NorthCarolinaAttorneyGeneral with google search. Then go to crime and
send your information to the crime fighting division; it involves your keeping a record of the date and
time of each call. All your information should be provided to the crime division of the Attorney
General's Office of North Carolina.
My guess is that these are virtual children who do not know the seriousness of their criminal
activity.
They "claim" they're collecting money for Local Police, claimed they worked for the PD and the Chief knew they were soliciting and approved. I called the Local Police Dept they mentioned who said they're liars.
