i also got a call from these people. They did not leave a message so when i called back it is disconnected. i am local 919 with AT&T. This is scary how they got my number.
This call was apparently an automated call from some Spanish-speaking agency. I don't know who they are but today when I called it back it had been disconnected.
I received the same calls but in the order below. The calls were made to my cell phone not a land line.
1st call from: 1-236-078-63 > nobody said anything when I answered. Within seconds after hanging up i got a ...
2nd call from 919-521-4730 > same scenario, nobody said anything so I hung up once again to only receive another call withing seconds from 919-926-7725.
My cell carrier AT&T/Stinkular, told me that there is no way for anyone to hack a GSM phone due to the technology used. They said that more than likely it's a telemarketing company trying phone numbers to see if anyone answers or at least reaches an answering machine. This will then allow them to legally call you for telemarketing purposes. They suggested to call the "National Do Not Call" number (1888-382-1222). However, when calling you must be calling from the phone you wish to be added to the NDNC database. Once your number is in the database you should not receive any telemarketing calls to the number that is registered for a period of 5 years at which time you should register once again.
I have tried to call these numbers back to only get a msg that the number is disconnected. WTF?
I am local to the 919 area code. Is anyone else here local? Where are the rest of you from?
