I have no idea, but my caller ID read "Wayne Memorial". Since we knew people in Goldsboro, NC (which is in Wayne County) who are in ill health, though I thought it odd they would call us from the hospital (we do not live even remotely near Goldsboro ... many miles away ... and they usually call from their cells when they do call), I called back. I got "This number is not in service."
I'm guessing a spoofed call, though making it seem like it came from a hospital is a pretty low thing to do. I did call my friends later, and they were nowhere near the hospital at the time. They were as surprised as we were! This number does not match any of the numbers on the Wayne Memorial Hospital website.

Received a call from 919-587-4639. I know one from Wayne Memorial or Goldboro NC. Obviously telemarketers trying to gain entry by using a fake call ID display.
Very interesting. I got a call from this number, but the caller ID did not give a name. Otherwise, I would have answered because my sister lives in Goldsboro and her doctors practice at Wayne Memorial. I agree with FS (March 6). That would be a pretty low thing to do.
