OMG I got the same message too, I had no idea that was a scam. I called back and surprisingly I heard the same message on his voicemail. I'm glad I checked this blog, I'm blocking the number (925) 402-1622
Web search shows that this belongs to KBB Property Investments in Brentwood, CA, who appear to specialize in purchasing homes in foreclosure. Called me unsolicited, and left a message from "Jeff" claiming to be part of some youth basketball organization and that he'd got my number from "someone who said I'd be interested in youth basketball" (there's no way that's true). Previous calls over the months were just hang ups. My guess is that he said that in an attempt to keep off these sorts of telemarketer lists. If true, these people are a bunch of shameless liars. I'm blocking their calls.
I got the same exact message as Geo. It was some message from a guy named Jeff calling about wanting my kid to join some local basketball team. Which is really funny since I dont have any kids. Anyways, I had a hunch it was a scam because my phone didn't even ring, it just went to voicemail.
Canned robo-call message on my cell 5 minutes ago:
"Hey - Coach Williams here with NorCal Club Basketball. I got your number from a local basketball program and was told that a child may be interested in playing basketball. We have actually got a winter season starting up in January and we're looking for kids of all ages and skill sets. So...uh...would love to reach out to you to come check us out. If you are interested feel free to give me a call back here at 925.263.9599"
Really? REALLY?? You cold-call my cell phone on Christmas Eve? Call the number back and you get a 2nd canned, pre-recorded message asking for you to leave your number for a call-back. Take your scam elsewhere!
