This is a Scam within a Con Job wrapped in Thievery. The whole thing starts with a scam, the old undelivered package confidence scam.
As you may know, Aqua Net is a Hair Spray, and no legit water company would be able to use what is a trademarked name. That is the lie that will let you know that anything else you are told is purely BS, and a scam is underway.
- Most places in the USA you are on a municipal water system, or you have your own well. If you are getting water from a municipal system, you may or may not have regular water bills, but if someone is promoting themselves as "your local water company" you better be suspicious. If you moved into a home or some apartments, you will KNOW who your water company is. You will have set up an account. If you are on a Free Water system or water included in your rent, you know that and be sure you are being scammed. There are scams where you are told you have to pay "insurance" or "maintenance" on the water lines that "run from the water main, to inside your house". Those are a scam every time.
- The "Prizes" you were offered are junk. The restaurant will be not be one that you would want to go to, and the $25 will have all sorts of restrictions on it. The "Free Vacation" is a Time Share or cruise ship scam. Those are worse than worthless, the time share will only cost you money, and be have no actual re-sale value.
- The "Water Test", that is bull for sure. It is way to get you to offer up your address to crooks. There are also scams where you water is tested, and they will find HORRIBLE problems, but it will be your lucky day! They will try for some sort water filter sales and "maintenance" or some other fast talking bs.
Do not contact these people. Do NOT let them near or in your home. No good can come of this. Since you called them, they now will be calling YOU. Probably a lot. And your phone number is now "in play". Get a call blocker, or double check with your phone carrier if they have call blocking. You will need that. Do NOT answer or return calls to unknown numbers, or numbers with screwy names.
You can google: Water company scams and get some info that way. Water Test Scams... you get the idea. Now get the call blocker going and screen your calls! Be Smart - Be Safe!
This is the number on a post card mailed to you that says you must urgently call them about a parcel on hold.
Its a way for them to "unlock" your phone number to telemarketing calls (by you calling them and establishing a business relationship with them).
I received mine today in the mail, as did several other neighbors
I received a very generic post card in the mail stating FINAL NOTICE and to call (925) 354-5291. I of course blocked my number but still regret calling. The female answering the call said she worked for several companies and needed the parcel number. Then she said it was a company called Aqua Net trying to send me a $25 gift card toward testing my water. I told her I didn't appreciate the solicitation and asked to be removed from there mailing list. She said she could return the gift card to Aqua Net. I told her the post card was a lie and she says, " How is it a lie?" I felt she was very unprofessional and this is some kind of scam.
