Post after post before yours all saying SCAM. Yes, you have been tricked. The part about being told you have a call from a friend, that does not sound right, does it? Those voice recordings are not exactly high quality either, and when you are called, it is most often later at night and a good person like you gets worried, panic a little. You want to help, so you want to believe the recording is real. These are horrible heartless people who do this.
Call your credit card issuer, see if you can get the payment stopped in some way. They may also be able to help you report this to the police.
I get collect calls from this number indicating it's from Martinez Detention Facility. When I checked the facility, they told me to ignore the call if I don't have anyone detained there.
I received 3 calls on Dec, 26th from 925-372-0151 and each time a recording said that it was a collect call from an inmate at the Martinez Detention Facility. The recording said that I needed to set up an account in order to receive the collect call and that they needed a credit card number. I called the Martinez Detention Facility and talked to a Deputy. The Deputy said that the phones that the inmates have to use can not make a collect call to a cell phone. The Deputy also said that if an inmate makes a collect call it can only go to a land line. This has to be some type of scam trying to get credit card numbers.
I have been getting calls from them for the past 3 days at around 5AM!!!!! so mad!!!! I just let it get to voicemail and it stated that it is from martinez detention facility and that they want me to make a deposit of some sort!!! SCAMM SCAMM SCAMM
