Solar energy shills with a new spoofed number robodialer making illegal calls under false pretense..
After the robodialer delay and 'boop' - a lady said she was from the Sustainable Energy Institute and launched into her canned pitch about how I was qualified under the California Solar Initiative for a free consultation to eliminate my energy bills - blah blah blah. (Note: The CSI is a real program, but these people have nothing to do with the state of California or PG&E. They are using the state program as 'cover' for their illegal telemarketing.)
I asked where she was calling from, and she said California, so I asked if she was calling from Van Nuys - and she said 'near there'. I asked if she was referring to A1 Solar and she said no, but would not tell be the name of the installer, and just wanted to return to her sales script. (The object is to get your name/address/phone and an agreement to speak to a 'energy consultant'. They sell this to an affiliated marketing branch that comes to your home and tries to sell you solar panels.) I told her she was about the 60th caller with a similar pitch - and I was a renter. End of call.
For years a series of sham companies in the Van Nuys area has been fronting for a few questionable solar energy installers - most notably "A1 Solar".
The phone number is faked.
They are criminals - calling my DNC listed cell phone for a shady telemarketing pitch.
If you want solar - find a reputable local installer.
Never deal with a cold calling criminal shill.
Block this number if you can - but they will change their faked number every few days and keep calling you.
