I received a call from a man with an Indian dialect stating that my computer had been detected as downloading viruses and that it would become inoperable shortly. After a brief chuckle, I stated that I worked for an affiliate of a major software company and asked for his Name, his phone number, and his email address. He immediately hung the phone up. Caller ID appears to have truncated the name = LAWRENCE LIVERM
I just received the exact same call. About 10 days ago, I received a call under the same false premise, same Indian dialect, with the caller ID listed as "Louisiana," claiming to be "Windows Tech Support" and that we were being called randomly to "update (our) Windows security." Clearly a scam and apparently a widespread one.
I just received such a call. Same acller ID, same number but nobody spoke. An attempt to call back was fruitless, no answer--in fact no ring. A scammer, obviously.
