On 12/19 caller said he was from the Health and Human Services Department and offered me a loan for 40k for college tuition. I asked for his contact information so I could call him back and he hung up.
Also called twice on 12/20 but hung up when I answered.
I got call from it. Saying he was from a federal medical relief department . He gave number of 206 472-6021 too. I found that it was a scam to steal account. I went and changed account info right away. After checking online about such things.
Got a call today from (925) 935-3810 claiming he was from the Department of Health and Human Services asking for a family member. When I questioned him as to the reason of his call, he insisted to speak to the family member with whom he had initially inquired. He had an Indian accent and the noise in the background was consistent with that of a large call center, with an open room of telecomm workers on headsets, like that of a television telethon which solicites for donations. Researching the number showed it was registered out of California, and the caller ID showed James Wright. This is def a scam, although the name of the family member he requested was a valid family member name of a minor child. I am blocking this number, and would suggest you answer the phone as the previous poster suggested " FBI field office, agent smith speaking".
I also got this call saying he was from the Department of health and welfare and i had been approved for a grant of 14k, which i hadn't applied for but was being given to me anyway. But when I asked him to just send the documents to my address he got all testy and said they weren't there to mail me things, just to call me and that he would deposit it directly into my bank or onto a credit card. So i told him i was not comfortable giving out that information, and he could just mail it to me and we would go from there. He promptly hung up.
