Caller ID: "(929) 238-1086 New York, NY". I didn't answer. Got an automated voicemail saying it was my final notice from the IRS and I should call them back. Give me a [***] break! [***]!
I also got a call from this number. They left a message saying that I was going to be sued by the IRS and I should call immediately. Really! Since when does the IRS make phone calls. They write letters to update you. I called them back and asked who they were and why were they calling me. They acted like they couldn't hear me and hung up on me when I asked who they really were and why were they calling. Also, since when has the IRS outsourced their calls to India...because that was the accent they had.
I too just got a call and it was a computerized message left stating it was the IRS and that I was being sued and had to call immediately. When I called it back it was a person with a very thick accent who answered, I asked if this was the IRS, they said yes, I asked if this was the Internal Revenue Service of the United States of America, they said yes and asked why I was calling them. I said it was because I had received a message to call, they asked my name and I said I want them to verify that they are the Internal Revenue Service of the USA and give me their address before I gave them any information. They said they could not, to which I said I wanted to speak to a supervisor. I told them if I was not allowed to speak to a supervisor I would hang up, he said that was my choice. Don't get fooled by these idiots. If they will not let you speak to a supervisor who will at least give the physical address, that it's a scam. As everyone said.... the IRS makes contact with you by mail not cold calls.
