As noted, this is a SCAM from someone saying they are DP&L (dayton power and light). They tell you that you owe money and offer to take a payment through a credit card (which you generously provide) and they will even take your bank account information! Oh goody!
I logged onto my account after the call and noticed that my payment isn't even due for another 10 days and there is no past balance due.
I have filed a report with the Ohio Attorney General's office, which you can do online (google it) and suggest that you do the same if you want to stomp these scumbags out. No telling how much they have stolen from senior citizens and people who are just trying to keep their power on who don't know they don't owe money.
This number is part of the dp&l scam affecting the Dayton Ohio area...I spoke with this guy whom had an accent and after he threatened to shut my power off till I make a payment I told him to go ahead and when I get home I will make an online payment on their website...well he got quiet and said ummm OK...when I got home he did not even have the correct amount I owed or anything....plus I had already made my payment but did not remember...I checked dp&l's site and this number is not theirs...plus their site warns of this exact phone scam....do yourself a favor and hang up and call them yourself directly!
I have now received two calls from this number. The first I let ring through to voicemail - nothing recorded. I answered the second time after reading this site. Same deal as tacojl - identified as DP&L, gave an incorrect amount owed (which I know because I just paid my bill this morning), and got unnerved when I started questioning his numbers. SCAM!
I received a call from this number this morning. I did not answer. Glad I looked it up and found out it was a scam. Kind of funny since I no longer live in Ohio and owe dp&l nothing.
