If you list your business online, like through Yext or similar, you'll get these calls from the sales department of other online listing companies. And often these sales desks are outsourced overseas.
Got this call, person on the other side claimed they are from yellow pages, they wanted to confirm business details such address, phone etc and asked about if we own any website and as far as we do, i mentioned that we take care about our websites ourselves and dont want them to participate in any 3-rd party SEO etc...that very same moment they hang up on me.
Being said this i know for a fact they have nothing to do with YELLOWPAGES and they are scam, otherwise they would behave differently as i have dealt with yellowpages rep previously and know they would not hang up like that. Also woman on the other end had eastern/asian accent which makes me think of an outsourcing from that region.
Aalso the phone number they called from have nothing to do with COLORADO state where they stated they have regional office.
Yea, this same called me this morning asking about my new start up business. She then claimed to be a sales representative named Alex Fernando from www.usdirectory.com, I was suspicious when she gave me a last name that was obviously Spanish, but she had a strong Farsi accent. She'll first start off by asking questions about my business, and finally, she'll ask for my credit card number. When I didn't give it to her, she sounded irritated. I then figured out that she might be a scam. It turns out, she is, the company number she gave me, well, I actually called it. The real Alex Fernando is a guy.
In conclusion, she's targeting business owners that recently signed up for online ads. Please don't fall victim to these scammers.
Just got a call from Ohio 937-550-1490. I never answer calls from "unknown" numbers, but decided to look it up as my friend got the same call yesterday. Found it is a scam from this site. Hopefully if enough of us report it, they will be stopped.
Received a call from 937-550-1490. A guy answered and appeared to be of Asian decent with the accent. He stated he was from the Yellow Pages and was questioning my business. He was asking several questions, the same as stated in some of the other comments. He had all the information needed from an ad. He asked me was the business in other countries and I told him yes. He asked me to hold on and after a few seconds, the call terminated.
