Just got the same call. I talked to him for a long time about how to handle his cursing child. Im a little worried now. I texted him saying that i know he is a scam and not to contact me anymore. How worried ahould i be. There are crazy people out there.
Called and asked if I babysat (he got my number off a Craigslist ad I posted about being a baby sitter) he continued to say he has an 11 year old & ask how many days/hours a week she would need to be cared for.. he never responded To that question & quickly Responded with "i need advice". Went on about how his daughter curses at him when he asks her to do things or when she's in front of her friends & how would I handle it. I went on about what I would do & he eventually asked if he could call. I told him maybe later on in the evening we could talk about it more. Well i really didn't want to talk to him on the phone since he never mentioned the job & I have 2 kids of my own I take care for. so at 940pm he texted me & then again at 1030pm. I told him I was home with my family and now was not the time to talk & i apologized for forgetting.. & ended it with "tmrw we can talk about the babysitting job too.. you did need that , right?" He responded with "I was considering it.. can we talk tmrw? Can I call you?" I said I'll try to find time. Then I decided to block him. It was all getting a little too weird for me since we don't even know each other.. he wasn't even sure about having a baby sitter. He asked for advice & I gave him my response and it should have ended there.. then talk about the job. He never mentioned it.. he only wanted to talk about his daughter & if he could be my friend to vent to. Which really bugged me out & the reason I didn't want to talk on the phone. Not sure if he honestly was a dad in distress with his daughter or some weirdo.. but I was getting uncomfortable and I don't risk anything since I have kids at home.
The same thing has been happening to me for months. Whoever is doing this has several numbers and emails. It's a pretty elaborate thing. I don't know what the end game is, sex trafficking? I have no idea. It's creepy. Glad I saw this thread. I've blocked the number but somehow texts are still coming through.
No eventually he will want you to take care of this imaginary daughter and send you a huge check. You will be asked to deposit the check and then immediately send a large portion by Western Union to pay for something, driver, books, whatever. The check bounces and then you are out the money and the fees.
