Just now called at 1202PM. Caller ID said Out of area. I answered and could hear a recorded message, but it was so garbled I couldn't understand it. I hung up.
Just called back at 256PM. Caller ID said Out of Area. This was a recorded message saying this was GE Capital and that my $5,000 loan has been approved and all I have to do is call them back at 941-363-6749 and "verify" my bank information so that the money can be deposited into my account within 2 hours. They didn't mention my name and this is just another robocall scam. I got another call earlier from 916-222-4019 claiming to be City Bank and it was the exact same scam.
I got a recorded message from GE capital and I was approved for a $5000 loan. The term were about $150 a month for 36 month that only comes to $5400. So, I thought that to be a little odd. Next because I have a credit score under a certain number I have to buy $75 insurance. To pay for the $75 insurance you must go buy and ITUNES card for $75 and give them the number and through their verification department then my money will be deposited into my account. I thought this was really really wrong. Then I looked up the number for GE capital on their website and asked them if they had a call center in Florida because that is where the 941 area code is from. They told me they no long do consumer loans.

• If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
• You have not won big bucks from a benign benefactor, a pot of pesos from PCH, dinero from a doctor, a car from a caller, or a grant from a gracious governmen
• The tooth fairy really does not exist
• Everything you read on the internet or hear on the phone is not necessarily true.
• It is illegal to ask for money for a loan or prize, before awarding the loan or prize!
• "Free Trips" are loaded with mandatory & costly extras, and you usually must give them your card number after listening to a loooong spiel at a hotel.
• Microsoft or a different famous software company, or one of their agents did NOT cold call you to fix your computer.
• The moon is not made of green cheese.
• The IRS will snailmail you, rather than phone you, if there is a problem.
• Jackalope milk is not an aphrodisiac.
• If you Vanilla Card, GreenDot, MoneyGram, Western Union, iTunes or use ANY gift/money/reload PIN-type card to send money to a scammer, the money is gone. In fact, as of June, 2016, it is ILLEGAL for telemarketers to ask for payment via these methods. t
• You should beware of Geeks bearing gifts, specially if the gift is a wooden horse with termites, or a statement that your computer is infected.
• 876 is NOT your lucky number, and it will cost you money to call that area code!
• The number you see on your Caller ID may not be the number of the person who called you!
• The Do Not Call List works as intended. It is NOT a call blocker!
