I just got a call from this number. I should have hung up because it took awhile for them to get on the phone. It turned out to be the Florida Sheriff's department wanting donations. If I wanted to give to a charity, I would initiate the call myself because I don't believe these people are legit in that all the money goes to help the Florida Sheriff's Association. I am also skeptical if it's real or not when they dial phone numbers. I always tell them that I am unemployed and that I have to take care of myself first before I take care of others. That usually shuts them down.
This number represented itself as the Sheriffs Foundation of FL. Asked to speak to the man or woman of the house, I stupidly told them no one was home who could speak to them then they hung up. It is the second time they have called. The first time they put a lot of pressure on me to use a credit card to give them money. I tried calling my local the sheriffs office, the FBI, and Verizon for help. NO ONE seemed to care and put me off on another agency. I just pray they never show up at my door. Currently, I called the local police and am waiting for a sheriff to call me back.
