It's the old "there is something wrong with your computer" scam. Begins with a recorded message (with an American accent, for credibility) and transfers you to a "technician" (har!) with an Indian accent if you press 1.
Buying a recording that doesn't sound Indian probably makes the scam sound a little more believable. But not much.
My custom-made Phone Tray Free message pressed "1" for me and kept this twit occupied for almost two minutes before he worked out he was speaking to a recording. Solid entertainment :-)
Yes, same thing just happened to me. American voice recording but when you press 1, some Middle Eastern accent guy comes on whom I could barely understand. After a minute or so, I asked for someone who speaks English. Then, I told him I knew this was a scam and he said it was not and could prove it. I messed around with him a bit more and then he hung up. Microsoft Certified Engineers do NOT call you in this way, especially from a number that if you call it back, you get a message that says the number is no longer in service. Don't fall for it!
called and said my computer sending signal to them that means I my operation system has sever problem. I knew it is scam. I played with them and finally whan they find out that I am joking and laughing they hung up. the accent was from india subcontinnent.
