Got a sham call purporting to be Expedia, saying I've been selected for a special promotion for a vacation for a family of 4 for $950. All I need to be is 30 years or older, and have a valid credit card. For [***] and giggles I pressed "1" for more details. I was transferred to an offshore south Asian call center....so that was it--I hung up. They spoofed not only my area code, but my prefix, which means they would be in Orange County, CA, not South Asia.
Most likely, they were going to "trick" the victim into giving their credit card info over the phone...
