Was a prerecorded message regarding that I was prequalified for a reduction in my federal student loan aid and to call this number 888 895 0884 for further details.
Was curious so I did call the 888# and spoke with Javier to have my student loan lowered.
Javier asked for my pin # from my FASFA account (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). I told Javier I can not remember that at the top of my head and that I would have to look for my pin #. Javier then requested my DOB and my SSN#. I did not feel comfortable with telling my SSN# over the phone just like that (gut feeling this was a scam). Then Javier transfers me over to a "senior loan advisor", named Robert. Robert requested my DOB and SSN # as well. I said I would rather call back at another time and look for the pin# for my FASFA account that Javier originally asked me for. Robert immediately said, we strictly follow the guidelines for federal student loan, "do you want help or not?". I told Robert I do want help, but I would feel more comfortable giving you another piece of information other than my SSN#. Robert said, then I will just take you off the list then, CLICK!! FYI everyone, be very careful out there. Sounds like it maybe identity theft or some sort of scam. Definitely something wrong here though!
