Caller identified himself as a mortgage loan officer who specialized in VA-type mortgages. With limited personal information he told me that his underwriters had secured a refinanced mortgage loan at a "phenomenal" fixed interest rate thereby cutting our current monthly mortgage payments by two-thirds. He asked for a credit card number which would be used to secure payment for an appraisal and closing costs. He said that the appraisal company would be in touch with me to schedule an appointment but he could not give me the name of the company saying that since there were "several" appraisals companies that they work with he would have to contact one of them to see who would be available;but, not to worry, because payment for the appraisal would already be secured so I would have no problem getting a one to call. I did not give him any credit card information and it was at this point that I ended our conversation. Of course, the calls from this agent are still coming in but I am not answering them until I find out who exactly these people are.
