Received call at my work place from a man who said his name was David Matthews (949-502-0123) and that I had charges pending against me. When I asked some questions concerning these charges..David Matthews asked "have you not been informed before today" and I replied I have no idea what you are talking about and then he said talk to my attorney here "Calvin Collins". I briefly spoke with Calvin Collins who stated I had charges pending against my name and social security number for a internet payday loan that I failed to pay back. I told Calvin Collins I would call him back. I didn not want to discuss this at my work place so other employers could hear and wanted time to investigage some. These men give american names but they have an accent or speak as someone from the middle east or india area overseas. Also there is a loud of noise in the background and difficult to hear and understand what they are saying. The phone number for Calvin Collins is 707-882-8938.
"Mike Anderson" with a heavy accent (sounds Indian/Pakistan) called stating my mother (he mentioned her first and last name) had committed fraud against a "big fraud with a finance company" using my name and number and that I am equally liable for this act. Mike doesn't want me to face any legal action and disregard his message. The phone number 949-502-0123 was given. "Goodbye and have a blessed day" was his ending line.
This bozo actually called my grandmother. I called him back and he stated that I owed $300 dollars from a loan taken out in December 2008. He continued to tell me that the balance for this so-called fraudulent act would cost me over $1,100 dollars. What a total scam. They just want to scare you into giving them money that you don't even owe. Disregard these calls....Scam, Scam, Scam!
My best friend received a phone call from this number, referencing my name and so-called involvement in a "fraud" case. The person claimed to be from the "American Law Company" and said if I didn't return the call, I would be in serious trouble. I tried to call the number and it went to automated voice mail. I know there is no legal situation going on, I want this to stop.
I got this same call today. First they left a message and when I returned call a guy named Kevin Le (also not sounding like a Kevin Le) stated I owed money. I was immediately concernced because he knew a lot of my personal info, so I looked up some laws when I came home and called them back and told him what I found out and accused them of being frauds and asked for contact info if they are indeed legit and they hung up on me. I am glad to Kansas is on it I am now going to report this to my state attorney general, and hope that everyone else does. These people have access to a lot of personal info.
I have gotten this call several times, they only leave a message once a day, but it is still annoying. This website has been very helpful in confirming my gut. I am sure whoever this is is not any of the names he has ever left due to thick accent. I will answer the next time & tell Mike or Jerry or whatever name he uses That i am aware of the scam. See what happens...
