Nighthawk Recovery in the inland empire are thieves. They repoed a car, and as of the persons personal property in the vehicle, they basically held it for ransom for money, the police said it was a civil matter and didn't bother to do anything. Nighthawk recovery are the scum of the earth and there is a small circle in hell waiting for them.
What I find odd is that they didn't leave the note on your door. Assuming that this is a debt collector who's trying to contact you, then keep in mind that the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) specifically forbids the debt collector from revealing anything about you to a third-party. In other words, if the debt collector contacts your neighbor in an effort to find you, he cannot legally tell the neighbor why he's trying to find you. In my opinion, the contents of the note on your neighbor's door -- that they are trying to contact you because of a "case" -- violates that provision of the FDCPA. If the debt collector violates your rights under the FDCPA, then you may have standing to sue for damages.
