all these people do is call with a recorded message not asking for anyone saying we have been trying to reach you several times.if this is a legit company they should have live people on the other line i dont accept calls that call me and tell me to hold on
Obvious that this is a fake message (above) if you have EVER tried to get one of these callers to give you the original company/acct numbers they are trying to collect on you know fully well they NEVER seem to be able to give you that info with any accuracy. These old debts are sold off from one collection agency to another like a revolving door- I can't even count how many times they have claimed to be collecting for accounts I have never had in my life (most recent one being DirectTV & I have never had satellite tv)- I just tell em do what you feel you gotta do, unless you can prove the validity of the debt- eventually they quit calling, right around the time they sell the debt to some other harassment agency...
This jerk, John C called my house today--again. Threatening wage garnishment etc.. Wanting to speak with my (common-law) husband of 16 years, who has been injured and unable to work since 2008, and has no unpaid debts within the last 7 years-I know for a fact. I work 3rd shift, and am the sole provider for our family. I told him what I stated above, that there are no wages, no unpaid debts and that I was trying to sleep. After hanging up he called back 4x in a row--SCREAMING at me "PUT JOSEPH ON THE PHONE, PUT JOSEPH ON THE PHONE" &"AN OFFICER IS ON HIS WAY TO YOUR HOME RIGHT NOW". I blocked the number(s) the calls came from, but he continued to call, same man, different number every time. I had to UNPLUG my PHONE to get away from these calls.
Its so simple, if you owe it, pay it. stop trying to blame agencies on the fact that you're a dead beat. My oldest sister is a collector in PA and she knows her laws. Its so simple to just return a call and say its the wrong number, or let them know your broke and cant pay it. But when people call in angry of course your not going to get the nicest attitude back. Don't know what you really expect, most people they have to call are losers anyways. Chain of title is a real thing, follow it. Its YOUR job to handle YOUR debt, not theirs, they get paid to call you and move on to the next one. So all of you lazy complainers need to get off your butt and handle your finances like a grown up. And if someone was calling me on something I don't owe, I would DEFINITELY look more into it to make sure my name gets cleared. Not rely on anyone else.
Riiight. If collectors who habitually violate federal collection laws and try to collect money you don't even owe, then pay them. How else is 'wrong number" going to support his drug habit? Don't make him go out and rob gas stations!
