This number was used to contact me about an apartment rental. After speaking with the 'landlord' and getting through the lease. We came to talk about making a deposit.
This person wanted me to use moneygram, to get the keys to the apartment. This raised redflags with me, so I did some research. The house he had offered, had fake pictures and the building was up for sale. I contacted the real-estate agent, and told them the situation. They confirmed what I thought. The building was not owned by this person, and that this was indeed a scam.
Texted me today trying to scam me into sending money for a rental property in Canada, claiming he was on a job in California and wanted to rent his place out in the meantime. I checked out the property itself to find out that it was recently sold. I knocked on the door and spoke with the present owners, who had no knowledge of the person who was trying to "rent" the place. Not only that, but the pictures this guy emailed me were not even of the same house lol. Needless to say, it was pretty clear that it was a scam.
Date 24/04/2016 This number (1-951-572-2438) replied to an ad I had for an apt. The person stated It would be perfect for the place. I was suspicious 5 mins into texting when he asked me what city I lived in. What? You just read my ad in the Kingston section saying you had a house for rent? This con-artist is not too bright. They said they lived in California due to a job transfer. They also said they would send me pics of the apt. The next message an hour later said he would send me the documents and keys in the mail. This was less then 2 hours of text messages. He asked me to send 710.00 for first 710.00 for last but had not told me how to send the money....
In my ad I had stated I was a real estate agent for a living. I was able to look up the address of the house in question and I contacted the owner. The owner had no intentions on renting his house and he too was shocked at how dumb the criminal was. The police have been notified but this Google downloaded phone number does not exist, I hope this does not mean he was able to get away with this scam on someone else?
