I just got a call, but it only rang once. My caller ID also says SSI. Like you, I'm in need of SSI. Also, my friend works for the social security office and they mail out letters for you to call in and not the other way around. They don't want to waste their time calling people anyhow, especially after hours!
Caller thought someone picked up phone. Said they were from SSI and wanted to speak to the female head of household and that it wasn't a sales call, but didn't say why they were calling. Called just before 8:30pm, don't know of any government agency that works that late, plus caller ID did not show as US Gov or any form of.
Got a call asking for a man with the same surname as me. When I replied that there was no one at this number by that name, they then asked me if I was a registered voter. I could tell this was some sort of survey, so I lied and said that I wasn't, and they left me alone...then called back the next day (I didn't pick up).
Got a call at 5:35 p.m. on a Sunday. Caller ID said SSI. I answered and after they asked for someone by first name only I said you are calling from SSI? He said yes mam. I said Social Security Income? He goes uhh and hung up.
This number called at about 8:30pm on Thursday Oct 22. The caller ID showed SSI. last time I answered a call from them I had to answer questions dealing with the upcoming CA elections.
The biggest pest on my phone is SSI calling from 2 numbers, 951-749-9551 and 951-602-1862. Several times per week, several times per day. I am in the 951 area code. Did some Googling and I found this company, apparently pretty big and world-wide. Look at this: https://www.surveysampling.com/general/received-a-call. They give you a chance to opt-out of phone calls, but you have to E-mail them to inform them. Now they have your E-mail address, God knows how much spam you will get! I did sent them an E-mail to opt-out and used an E-mail address that I never, ever use. One of those that AT&T or TWC assigns to you when you get their services. Look into their web site and you'll find that they offer career opportunities to pests like phone solicitors.
