caller identified himself from social security telling me that I was changing my direct deposit, I said no, the man adked what bank I banked at,,I SAID IM NOT GIVING ANY INFORMATION OUT ,A ND HUNG UP.
I received a call too. This actually is Social Security. If you do your homework you can actually find out that this is Social Security information. No, if people have a question about whether Social Security actually called them, they can find the number for their local office and call them. You can't always believe that the number shown on Caller ID is the real number anymore - lots of numbers get spoofed nowadays.
I too received a call from this number, they said they were from social security. Did not have my name correct. They were calling to tell me they needed information from me and until they got it my kid's benefits are suspended. I thought it was suspicious mostly because it was a local number, not government issued, and I could hardly understand the person. SO I did call my local office in Bloomington. They said this number IS NOT them. and they told me to report it to the FTC.
