Received an email with this phone number on it, claiming to be the Microsoft Audit division and wanting access to our computer to audit out Microsoft office useage. We don't have any Microsoft products, never have, we use a private insurance software system.
Same as Annie. My company received an email purportedly from Kyle Manusina of Microsoft. Per the email it is: regarding the License Baseline Certification your organization has been requested to complete.
This certification involves comparing your use of Microsoft products with the licenses your organization has, and concludes with your organization providing an online certification confirming the results.
If this were really from Microsoft it would be sent to our actual IT manager, not to our sales department general mailbox.
Seems this is legit from Microsoft, but I will not do it. What do they need to go through all our licenses and software for? Trying to push us to pay their monthly fee instead of one cost and done? UGH!

Microsoft has a wide variety of licensing types - all of which are gimmicks to get as much money out of a business as possible.
The question "Is this phone number legitimately used by a Microsoft representative?"
It is possible for a scammer to spoof a Microsoft phone number and impersonate a representative to phish for the technical information the scammer needs to infiltrate a business's computer network.
