Missed three calls from this number on my son's phone yesterday so the 4th time it called I answered. The guy stated he was from the US Grant department and looking for a Kayla _____. I usually start by asking who the caller is calling for and then politely informing the caller that my son just received this number and to stop calling him since he isn't the person the caller is looking to for. This guy became very rude and started calling me a liar and told me that I was actually "Kayla" the girl he was looking for and that if I wasn't then he was calling the Feds (since he worked with them) to file charges against my 8 y/o son for identity theft since he "obviously stole Kayla's phone number, address, and SSN information." I was a little annoyed at this point, and since the caller did not speak English very well, informed him that in America we can change our phone numbers as often as we please and because of this, phone companies recycle numbers and that is how we have the same phone number that someone use to have. He said he was going to come to my house and prove I was this Kayla girl. I informed him I would be more than happy to meet him at my front door. He then provided me with Kayla's address (btw it is a college dorm address). I informed him that if he did show up at my house, I would be calling 911 requesting police assistance for HIS safety, not mine. I ended the call at that point. Usually I don't talk to these guys that much, but this guy was too fun and I was in a bad mood so this was a good way for me to have a laugh.
So I love the fact that they call my work cell, so I answered and it was still ringing on his side, so I muted and listened in.....very interesting how they speak another language with some English thrown in, talking about their dates over the weekend and not to waste their time trying to leave a message from someone and how they don't give 2 cents what is said to them....nice to know scammers don't seem to realize there is a MUTE button on cell phones for a reason!
