Called town hall, and they said that many residents of the town had little water sample bags put on their front doors. The residents were invited to put some tap water in the bag and put it back on the front door knob. Those who were trusting enough to fall for the official-looking bag got follow-up calls. The calls were to pressure the resident for additional in-home visits to test the water ... and eventually get pressured to buy an expensive filter.
The town hall person encouraged us to ignore these people.
I keep getting calls from this number. Never answer, so I don't know anything about the caller. Minturn Florist Concierge?? What are all these florist concierge numbers?
I answered, and he said he was doing some sort of water survey. Something to do with Water Awareness whatever. Wants to do an in-house analysis of the water mineral content. Don't answer this one.

I wish I would have known about this scam yesterday, they totally got me. Ugh. And they literally JUST picked up the water sample so I know they didn't have any time to test it yet.
Scam to try to get you to buy an expensive water filtration system. They start by putting a baggy at your door with a test tube they want you to fill up with your tap water under the false guise that they will test this water for free to see if there are any contaminants and they will let you know if they find any. You fill out a card with all your info so they can supposedly get in touch with you to report the findings of their research, as they claim to be merely a research facility trying to improve local water conditions. Then they call you and say they found something and ask to do in home evaluation at which point they become worse than Kirby salesmen.
I fell for half of the scam, I filled up my test tube and waited patiently for them to come get it. They said they'd get it the next morning, they didn't. They literally just picked it up after business hours tonight and I saw them pick it up and not 5 minutes later I was getting a call from them saying they tested and found issues in my water. They JUST picked it up, they did not run any tests on the water. Luckily I found out about their scam via someone who contacted town hall about it two months ago so I know better than to believe their lies and let them until my house to perform a fake inspection whilst unloading their expensive product on me.
