Just got a call and the woman was trying to get information about an unknown person maybe I knew. I figured it was a scam and I blew her off. Watch out for calls from VA and an Seatlle WA 206-336-3481 its an IRS scam.
I received calls from this #...and yes, it is total BS! Beware and DO NOT give your information. IF there is truly a complaint about a person(s), papers would be served/delivered to you personally or by mail.
This company called claiming to be LT F Associates but they're actually a firm called Hamilton Prime trust out of San Diego California they stated that there was a file pending against me and I needed to call another number which was 1-866- 241-9919 they asked me to call that number they referenced a claim number I told them that if they already had my phone number then why wasn't this Hamilton Prime Trust calling me instead of them and that this company who claimed I had an owed a debt should be contacting me instead. When I asked for information about this so called debt they could give me any
So I called the other number got a lady who answered Hamilton Prime Trust I asked her what her company did she said they were locating firm I said that's funny I just got a call from another number claiming the same thing I gave her the reference number that I received from the first caller she proceeded to tell me that they were calling about a debt that was owed in the amount of $1500 with HSBC a credit card That was supposed to be opened in 2001 she said the account was closed in 2005 and charged off in 2008 and the $1,500 owed was inflated amount and they would be willing to settle for less if I would provide them with a payment today.
Of course I laughed and told her that I don't remember any credit card opened up 15 years ago and that if in fact it was legit then they need to provide me with validation of the debt explain to her what that meant and pointed out that in California there's a four-year statute of limitations which was expired and that if they wanted to peruse this matter in court I would be happy to oblige them but before they filed Court docs they had better provide me with validation of this debt to include the original contract they claim I signed the terms of that contract who's the original creditor was document showing that they now own the debt and have the legal right to collect on a debt. I also pointed out that she stated the debt has been charged off in 2008 which would have meant that I most likely would have received a 1099-C for cancellation of debt and if I had in fact receive one it will reflect on my tax return and that would be proof this debt if in fact real had already been taking care of
I asked again if her company was able and prepared to validate this so called debt.
Her response was that if I wasn't willing to settle today then she was going to forward the matter to her legal team and file in court, which by the way for those of you who aren't aware its illegal for a debt collector to threaten sueing someone.
I don't believe they were prepared for somebody such as myself to answer the phone I believe they thought I would give in and offer them my credit card number to pay the so-called debt
Don't let companies like this push you around and bully you they're bottom-feeders they buy a profolio full of old debt in this case they claim the debt was in 2001 16 years old and they think they have a legal right to collect on it well then go ahead and waste your resources try to file a court case but they will lose
