Received a call from someone with an Indian/Pakistani accent saying they represented Windows. They told me to go to my computer and they could show me the problems they were talking about. I did and saw many Error and Warning messages. Then they put on their "Supervisor" and he told me to go to the internet and log in to www.ammyy.com. I then asked what this web site was - he said that was so he could log into my computer and fix the problem. I told him that I couldn't do that. He asked me why. I told him that I didn't innitiate the call, he did, therefore I couldn't do that. He said, "well, OK" and then hung up.
Same thing. Pakistani guy called me telling me he worked with windows operating system, sid i had viruses that could not be detected and asked me to sit at my pc nd he would show me... I told him that I worked on computers for a living, and stay in constant surveilance of my system. He kept on and kept on, saying "so youre saying t you do not care if your computer crashes?" It seems like a scheme to eithe get ppl to buy some crap antivirus software, or a ploy to get dumb people personal info from their pc's.
Received a call from "Charlie" male voice with heavy indian/pakistan accent. Said he was calling from the "anti hacking department" of Windows Service Center. He was calling because he was going to refund some money to me. He gave me a phone number (315 944-2628) to call to arrange the refund. Needless to say, I did not cal the number provided.
Someone at this number apparently didn't figure out that he was talking to an answering machine. After no one answered him,he began swearing and said some very obscene things. I think he was the same individual who called earlier in the week and said he was from Windows. I told him I knew he was a scammer and he hung up.
Received call from 971-217-9518; caller had heavy east indian accent; claimed to be from microsoft in ohio; there was a problem with my computer; it will crash; claimed it was a new service from microsoft; didn't give him any info; thanked him for the call and hung up; also had missed calls from 971-217-9514 and 971-217-9508 which are interestingly from oregon, not ohio; why can't we get rid of these crooks?
