They picked the wrong one to mess with because I report.
I can tell you that the FCC does contact them and does put them through all kinds of paperwork and an investigation. The fine is $10K.
Just write down every time they call- time and date. Once you get three, that's good enough to report. You don't even have to talk to them. The fact that they are calling you when you are on the registry is enough.
REPORT THEM! It's easy to do.
I had another one of these jerks tell me that there isn't any such thing as the do not call registry anymore. I guess he's in for a surprise.
These people are making illegal telemarketing calls and need to be stopped. Report each and every violation to www.donotcall.gov.
They seem to be targeting people in Illinois (judging by the posts above) because we have the ability to switch to a different electricity service provider (while retaining Commonwealth Edison as the company who will still send us our bills and maintain the power lines, etc.).
Over the past year we have been inundated with items in the U.S. mail giving us information about switching to this provider or that provider in order to save money on our electric bills. That's fine. However, these robocalls are not fine. They are violating the do not call list.
DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION, especially your account number with your current service provider!
Got same cal in New York.Message on answering machine Government deregulation of electric. Said could save me money. Obvious SCAM! As far as I know electric has been deregulated for years. Might call them back just for kicks.
