Caller identified himself as Alex from "Windows Technical Department." I have received this call before from this outfit; caller insists that I have a virus on my computer, sight unseen. I work in IT (and I have regularly updated antivirus software) so I challenged him by asking for the Microsoft Knowledge Base number of the issue so I can look it up myself. He was unable to do so and got agitated and hung up. This time around I hung up immediately.
Caller identified himself as a software company, informing me that my computer has a malicious software on it and he wants to remotely access my computer and help me. I advised him that I do not respond to prank calls. He said if I was in front of my computer, I answered in affirmative. He said locate Control Key, I told him which Computer he was referring to, I had 3 computers, he said the one with windows. I told him but you said one was affected, he said "we will check them one by one, he did not say how he found my phone number to my computer..
I got a call from this number 3/2/13 . The foreign accent was confusing..asked who they were..got foreign type gibberish, She asked me to go to computer and and I would be helped with the problem..(I like a ninny obeyed) the put a guy supervisor on phone who began to talk me through a procedure. I was asked to put some numbers on a bar.. then noticed numbers were being typed on another bar.. I lost control of my curser.. Then a notice appeared on screen saying this illigit and to disengage and report it. I did. I told him what I had done and he said my computer would crash in a a few hours and I would have to buy a new one and he said "Goodby:" and hung up. Will call phone company to report it too. Any suggestions out there ?
I got a call from this number 4/19/13. The guy had a foreign accent and I could hardly understand him. He told me he was from Microsoft and were receiving error and warning messages from my computer,and my computer was critical and could crash any minute. He said when you go on the internet your computer gives you error messages right. I said yes he said its a software problem. He told me to access My computer, Manage then to scroll to see the error and warning messages. Then said I would need to allow him remote access to the computer to fix it. Once he said he needed remote access I hung up the phone.
