It's mostly foreign operated scam. They own the block of numbers 2981 and etc. All Asia PAC Tel.

DO NOT call the number back!
DO NOT PRESS any number. You won't be removed they are criminals and don't care, all you are doing is validating your number for more scam calls.
DO NOT speak to a representative.

They will use all types of schemes like auto warranty, home security, survey, free cruise and the dreaded Lower your interest rate. All they are going to do is steal!

Know the signs: always a call from out of area, all caller ID's are spoofed/fake and there is no call back number nor real company. Just theft!

Warn the elderly and the gullible because they are the most vulnerable to this scam.

Putting a comment here doesn't stop them, reporting them might.  These asshats need to get sued by the FTC, please make a complaint at:

With enough complaints, the FTC can sue the callers for violating the DNC registry.

I always report them to https://www.donotcall.gov/.   Hasn't done any good but if we flood the complaint system with this number perhaps they will investigate these crooks.
