my parents got the same call for me today and the other day .and i dont even live at my parents house. so i called the ATTORNEY GENERALS OFFICE and they are sending me a cpmplaint form to fill out and they will call them and tell them to stop harrseing my parents and me.
A recorded call saying I am being sued but I could stop proceedings by calling with a case number. Since it was a recorded message I feel it is nothing more than a scam. This needs to be stopped. How do these people get my number to begin with since I have filled out "do not call" list several times. This is on my cell number that they are calling and will not answer when called back. I did not get a company name as I was inside a store when they called and could not hear real well.
Called me and left a threatening message about me being sued and they will come to my place of business. I got scared and concerned so I called the number back and a guy answered. He said I took out a loan a few years back. Would not give me any information and stated he needed me to pay today and to give them my account info. I asked for a statement or paperwork to mailed to me and he stated not until I pay what I can now.
I too have gotten phone calls from this number, and numerous others. I have reported them to the FTC, FBI, Local Authorities and the State Atty General. I am so tired of this nonsense. It doesn't do any good answering the calls and confronting them, because they just step up their tatics. Mostly I ignore them, but that's not helpful either because they call my place of business, my cell and my mother. If I do anwer them, I just basically tell them, do what you need to do and they give the spiel about we'll arrest you at your place of business etc. I tell them, you know, I've been served before and I know they do not go to your place of business unless it's a last resort. I said I was served at home and when I wasn't home, they left their card, so I said I know you are full of crap. I said I also know that if you are collecting a debt, you know who the company is that you are collecting for and the amount of the "original" loan, which you obiviously don't know. Then I give them the kicker. I live in a state where payday loans are illegal, so even if I had a payday loan that was defaulted on, which I don't, the company would more than likely not press charges and if they did, they would not be able to charge me 341% intrest which you claim they are charging me because in my state the most that they can charge if they so desired to go forward with the law suit is 34% on the original amount per year! Then they stammer and carry on and say, well this company can charge what they want blah blah, and I say yeah, then do what you need to do.
Called me threatening to have my drivers license suspended, arrested and sued. Got really mad when I asked for something in the mail stating what I owed.
