This was the first scam call I received. I didn't recognize the number didn't answer.
VM: "just to inform you that we had received a legal petition notice against your name so before this matter goes to the federal claim courthouse or before you get arrested kindly call us back on our call back number as soon as possible our number is 9722901435 thank you".
Because I'd never received a scam call before this one I  immediately called the number. Some fool answered stating he was a police officer with the IRS. When I started asking him questions like "if you're with IRS, why is your call back number start with 972? that's not this states area code for IRS". He then tried to scare me with verbal bullying tactics that I  would go to jail etc. Well I  ended the call with my own threat of reporting him, he hung up. I called backed several times no answer.
I quickly called my state's IRS number and was told 972 is the area code in Texas. And that it was a scam call. I was shocked when 2 days later they had the audacity to send certified mail that I would have to sign to receive. When I read that the sender was department of revenue I never retrieved that mail because IRS doesn't send mail that way.
