I've been getting these calls for over a year! Yesterday three times, and already one this morning. I've received both Medical Compensation and Windows Technical Support calls, neither of which I fall for, trust me. My husband went as far as to tell one Easterner we ran Apple computers. I told the Medical guy this morning that I had called the FBI, and that all my calls were being monitored. He hung up, of course. One of the calls I got yesterday was from a guy with such a heavy accent I told him he wasn't speaking English. He then proceeded to spell out his most difficult words, and half of his alphabet was equally unintelligible.
I called the local FBI office this morning, and they told me that unless I have actually been scammed and lost money, they can't help. I facebooked about it, and asked everyone to call the number and harass them in return. Don't know if that will do any good.
I got a call from this number. A man from India asked me about having had transnational mesh surgery. I asked what business is it of his and where did he get my info. He said from the hospital. I asked which hospital. He laughed. I asked his name and he said Mark Martin. Yeah, right. I asked where he was calling from and he said from US medical department in Austin TX. I said oh that building across from AT&T Stadium. He said yes. I said really? Cuz that stadium is in Arlington. He hung up so I called back. Had to call back a few times to get thru as they attempted to block my number. I *67-ed my number and got thru. I demanded his true name and resource of my info. He then, in gross detail, told me how he was going to rape me and sexually assault me. Called me a mother*****. I said if he thoughhis words were intimidating then he's never been to New Jersey. This angered him more as he didn't get the reaction he wanted. I hung up and he called me back whispering his rape plan again. I hung up. Later I called back because I want to know who is giving out my info. They now claim to be a home improvement rep company giving out free estimates. I asked why they had quickly changed services. He asked for my number so I called"Jenny"-ed him adding 848 to the famous 867-5309. He said ha! Now you are blocked. (Oh am I). I reported this to the police and FTC. I've also spoken to a lawyer as it has occurred to me where this info is being leaked from. When the scanners first called me, they called me by my former name. I only have one item still in that name. That item also has a customer service team comprised of the same type of people who could give my name and phone number to these people as well as provide spotted (fake cover) numbers to these scam artists. It's my pre paid cell phone. Anyone else having this issue and also have a pre paid phone? Just curious. We may not be able to stop these scanners from overseas but we can definitely stop their facilitator.
This number has called me three times in two days. A man with a foreign accent keeps calling back. I ask to be placed on he do not call list and continue to be getting the calls
Got a call from a woman that I couldn't understand a word she said. I asked to speak to someone that spoke English. She hung up. A second person called a minute later, same number, and again it was difficult to understand and hear. They sounded like they were in a warehouse with a ton of people talking all around. I was able to get Medical Services out of the second guy. I asked to speak with a supervisor and after about 10 min on hold with horrible blaring music, a man got on with an extremely thick Indian accent and said his name was John Smith (sure it is). I asked what company he worked for. He said he was a representative of the Consumer Protection Service located in Washington DC. I told him he was a lying scam punk and he told me to go to hell.
