Interesting that this guy calling sounded just like the same person calling from 877- 410-4634 a discontinued number as of 4/01/15. Using that number he claimed he was from Direct TV. I'm sure these scammers are continually changing numbers in order to suck people in and claiming legitimate businesses in the process. I suggest reporting to the company that they are supposedly representing. You will at least put the company on the alert. I called Direct TV and they told me they would handle it on their end... haven't gotten a call from that number since....
Just got a call from this number -- answered as described below. Calls I get from numbers I don't recognize as folks I know, I often answer with strings of four to six random alphanumeric characters. For example: G27H2 4KN0 2274G Q2CER 9E55D and so on....They hang up first. Sometimes, will slip in the old F-U string :)
Got a call from this number saying that he was from Microsoft and that my computer was reporting to them as being totally encrypted and he could help me "fix" it if I would log on and give him access. Told him I would let him speak with my "IT guy" and he hung up rather quickly. Guess he didn't want to see if I really had an IT guy. Total spam again!!!!
Received two calls from this number and another earlier. Not sure where my phone number came from. I've been getting these calls for a while now. Every time, someone from "Microsoft". Person on the line had an Indian accent and over pronounced every word. When I told him it was a scam, immediately, he was arguing that it was not a scam. I had heard of these calls before. Do NOT let them onto your computer. The "virus" they claim is on your computer is a normal number that ALL computers have. Once you let them have access, they will start deleting vital documents from your computer until you promise to pay thousands of dollars for them to "fix" your computer.
