I got a call this morning at 11:27a.m. central time saying they were a heating & air conditioner company. It was a recording & said click one of the options to speak to a person & to click another option to get removed from their calling list. I'm sure they will just sell my number to another company & I'll gets from whatever that'll be. It's just a viscous revolving system "we the people" just can't get out of. I don't remember the name of the company as they said it so fast...I just waited till the part came on to click to get me off of their list.
I answered the phone because I was expecting a call from someone and didn't know there number. Normally I don't answer calls if I don't recognize the number since it is always a telemarketing call. Anyway, the guy said "This is Tom with HVAC furnace calling about your a/c check" - I said "we already have someone" - he hung up with no goodbye. I was heartbroken!!! No, I just really think it was rude to be so discourteous, especially if trolling for new business.
LOVE call blocking! After I put them on my call block list, I received 6 calls within 2 minutes from this number today! LOVE annoying THEM for a change!!
I recently needed work on my old AC system. After using a local service that had intentions of replacing the unit and not repair, I put something on Facebook asking if anyone knew a reputable service. Suddenly I started getting calls from several numbers, not just this one, for AC system check up. I've been told that they teach students in school to scam the home owner as much as possible, otherwise being an AC/HVAC tech doesn't pay. So you pretty much have to know they are out to scam you even if you call THEM. Ah, love Facebook but it sure is easy for people to get information to scam you! This might be a legitimate company but if they have to get their business by going through Facebook and looking up numbers, then they must not be very good. Also the caller ID was just the phone number. That is always a red flag.
