Got a call today from this number.  It says it is from Frontier Commun which I think stands for Frontier Communications, the company that took over Verizon FIOS back in April of this year.  I have gotten calls from this number all week & decided to answer it to see what they were wanting & to tell them to stop calling me.  To my surprise, it was an automated phone call asking if I would like to have my credit card interest lowered.  Wow, who wouldn't want it lowered.  The thing is that I don't have a credit card with this company.  The automated call never said who they were.  My opinion is even if a real company calls with an automated voice & don't say who they are, I will assume it is a scammer using the companies name in order to gain to any credit cards you might have.  I can't afford a credit card & therefore I knew this had to be some type of scam.
I can't say 100% sure it is a scam but for a company this well known to not say who they were when they called, it sounds fishy to me & never said what type of credit card either like Mastercard, Bankamericard etc. In my dealings with scam callers, they usually just say, "your credit card."  Some people unaware of being scammed & thinking it is the real credit card company calling them, they will start naming off what credit cards they have & the scammer will just say yes to one of them & ask you for your credit card number & the code on the back of the card to verify you are you.

First, you know who you are & you never give out your credit card numbers or the code on the back or any account numbers you might have with a companies.  The companies know all your information & a scammer is trying to get this information from you to steal from you.  Credit card companies won't call you either to ask you to verify anything as they already have it & they were the one's that gave you the credit number or account number for whatever you have with the companies.

My way of thinking is that if I don't recognize the phone number calling me, I look at it as they are scammers, even if they aren't, they are still trying to sell you something or get you to donate.  I never donate to anything over the phone but if I did, it would be to a legit company I know is the real deal & not someone with an overseas voice I can never understand 98% of the time.  If a scammer is trying to scam you, my thought on this is I always scam them right back.

Never make up a credit card number as you are most for sure giving out a real credit card number & can ruin a good person's life & cost them as much as a million dollars to get their credit even halfway straightened out & if this is a poor person like me just barely making it from month to month, then you will have ruined them for life & put them in a even poorer situation.  Use all zero's if the scammer ask for a credit card.  This will piss them off & they won't call you from that number anymore.  They may call a week or two later from a new number but just keep doing the same thing & they will eventually get the message that they will never get a red penny from you.  "Just scam the scammer".  If everyone started doing this, scammers would end up being out of business.  I just feel sorry for the elderly people who don't know the difference from a scammer calling & a real company that won't call & ask for any of your personal information.

I think phone companies should be responsible for these scammers in every country in the world as they are the one's issuing phone numbers to the bad guys.  There has to be a way that the phone companies can trace these calls back overseas.  Phone companies should have nipped this in the bud many many years ago when telephone scamming first started.

So I don't know if this is the real company calling with a robo call as a telemarketer for the real company or if it is a scammer using the real company name.
