Got left a message on voice mail, a computer generated voice, saying the call was to notify me that the IRS is filing a law suit against me. To get more information on the "case file" I am supposed to call (253) 655-4857.
I keep getting this call too. someone saying they're "calling from windows operating system" (not microsoft) and "one of my computers is repeatedly sending them an area code from this computer" something about downloaded stuff causing problems.
nice touch adding a foreign voice to make it sound like its coming all the way from India (or a crappy cell phone) after telling him i didn't believe him he asked 'why' I said there are no problems with any of the computers here and i hung up on him.
I keep getting phone calls from this number, as well as a couple other numbers that I am positive are the same people just changing their number. I think they are just spoofing their number to a different one, not actually calling from that location. I am certain they are all the same because I have gotten these calls within a short period of time right after one another, and they all behave the same.
I answer the phone, and then about 10 seconds pass before a distinct computerized voice beeps and then says "Goodbye". In my opinion, they are testing to either have someone who is more vulnerable answer the phone, or they are wanting to check and see if we are home (kinda scary). Or they could just be checking to make sure its a valid number to pass on to some spam partner.
There probably isn't any way to stop them because they are not from the US.
So far, the numbers I know to be associated with each other are the following:
607-529-9985 PAYPHONE
845-469-9827 McDonalds
972-453-9831 Dallas Tx
607-733-1419 Elmira NY
