I had applied for additional life insurance. The phone number, 972-996-4039, was for Porta Medic. They were calling to schedule my medical exam, which was needed prior to them approving my additional life insurance. As of 6/7/2010, this number wasn't a scam.
I got a message at home from this number and company, though it was in error. Our voice mail clearly says our names and the name of the person this message was for was night and day different. The message went on to leave some detailed medical info. When I called back to report the error, the guy who answered the phone sounded annoyed with me and said that maybe it was my fault. What?! I said that I was merely trying to do something nice for the person the actual message was intended for, though I also noted, it should have been clear in our message that the operator had the wrong number. I said it sounded like it concerned some medical exam, and that they should be more careful where they leave these messages and actually LISTEN to the number they have called. I said it was user operator error not my error. He then said "it's just for life insurance so it's no big deal." Comforting isn't it? What an idiot. He said he'd remove me from their database. I said I shouldn't be in your database. You called the wrong number! God, I thought at some point he'd just say thank you for taking the time to call so they could correct the mistake. Never once did he say thank you. Great stuff.
