I have decided to stop paying that portion of my bill that corresponds to the amount of spam calls and texts vs REAL ones. Example: 30 days, 57 calls and texts, 8 were for me. The rest were spam ranging from "save on your electric bill," to trying to sell me drugs. I've informed my carrier, no response, so they'll probably just shut me off. I really think that if enough customers do the same, the carriers MIGHT get the message. I simply can't believe that Verizon, sprint, etc., don't have the technology to accomplish this. I DO believe that the revenue these calls generate is too tempting foe them to shut it down.
Grouchyold man - We are in total agreement - the telecommunication companies will do nothing that impacts their profit margin from telemarketers.I've stopped accepting all messages on my cell - i do not want to get charged for the spam calls anymore. They are still using GoGreen according to another spam/scam site. Company supposedly shut down in 2014, after Feds went after them. They collect your personal info and sell it as sales leads to solar companies and alternative energy companies. They claim they are a "charity" because they provide an educational message "an urgent message about your energy bill....... American Recovery Act.... yada, yada... ".
They have actually been accused by an energy company that buys the leads of providing false info sales leads, and SCAMMING them as well.
They called my house at dinner time last night and I picked it up and said "Stop calling here." Today they called my cell phone but I didn't know it was the same guy. I didn't answer. How do they have both my numbers?? I googled it and it came up as Johns Johnson. I wish he would.
